About KATE
Building the future of real estate and technology together
KATE Innovations is on the verge of a major technological leap forward. With the launch of a revamped platform (V2) and ambitious plans for internationalisation, we are looking for an experienced Back-end Developer who combines technical depth with a hands-on mentality. Do you have experience with PHP8, React and microservices, and would you like to work in a compact team where you can really make an impact? Then this is your chance to join one of the most innovative scale-ups in real estate technology.
KATE as your employer
KATE Innovations is based in Utrecht and has 16 employees. KATE Innovations is an ambitious and growing company that specialises in software development for the property market. What started with building a process tool for valuers in the Netherlands has now grown into an advanced platform for customers in the Netherlands and beyond.
KATE Innovations was founded in 2016 by Rutger Janssen, Erik Schlooz and Roderik Gerritsma out of frustration with the inefficient valuation process for commercial property. When it comes to adapting to today’s digital world, the commercial property sector is lagging behind. The disruption of this sector calls for innovative changes. That is why KATE has developed software that organises the entire valuation process from A to Z. This enables real estate companies to structure their data, optimise their workflow and develop new and future-proof business models. In addition, KATE offers IT solutions that improve collaboration between advisors, banks and property owners within the real estate sector ecosystem.
Your role as Back-end Developer for KATE
As a Back-end Developer at KATE Innovations, you will play a key role in establishing and improving our new software environment. You will work on the implementation and optimisation of the V2 version of our platform, where you will have a direct influence on how 23 separate systems are migrated to a single scalable solution. You will be responsible for resolving technical teething problems, further expanding our microservice architecture and developing stable APIs that connect well with our front-end (React, IndexDB).
You will act as a technical sparring partner for the front-end developer(s) and work closely with stakeholders such as the product owner and software architect. Your work will have a major impact on crucial roadmap components such as real-time KPIs, bulk actions, secure data sharing, external links and international scalability. A solid framework is already in place; your task is to understand it, improve it and prepare it for the next phase.
Your profile
You work in a structured manner, think proactively about technical choices and know how to set priorities within complex migration and development processes. You are confident, but also remain open to cooperation and feedback.
You recognise yourself in the following:
- You have several years of experience as a Back-end Developer, ideally in a lead or independent role;
- You are proficient in PHP8 and have a good understanding of how to read, maintain and extend existing frameworks.
- You have experience with microservices, REST APIs, and component libraries.
- You have knowledge of front-end (e.g. React, IndexDB) to properly understand the connection with the user;
- You are analytical, practical and take responsibility naturally;
- You are used to working in a hybrid setting (60/40) with short lines of communication;
- Knowledge of security assessments, MongoDB, or the real estate/financial sector is an advantage;
- You speak Dutch and are available for at least 32 hours per week.
